A carbon-fibre tub, 720hp and a 0–100 time of 2.9 seconds put it in a different bracket to everything else on the page — this is a car with genuine hypercar numbers that you can hire for the weekend. What makes it remarkable is that it is also the most usable of the three two-seaters. The ride is the best of any supercar of its generation — supple enough that you can drive it every day without complaint — and the front boot genuinely holds a weekend bag, which neither the Ferrari nor the Huracán can claim. It is the rare supercar with no real weakness as a car.

The doors draw a crowd every single time, and it matters more than it should. You will not open them once without someone stopping to watch, and after a while you plan your parking around it. It is theatre built into the car, and it is a large part of what you are hiring.
The visibility is the best in the class, because the glasshouse wraps around you and the pillars are slim. That sounds like a small thing until you have driven the alternatives — in the 720S you can actually place the car on a narrow road, see out of junctions, and reverse without a camera. It makes a 720hp car feel far less intimidating than it has any right to.
The ride in Comfort is softer than an Urus, which is genuinely hard to believe of a car this fast. It breathes over bumps, settles quickly, and never crashes into Melbourne’s patched surfaces. You could commute in it, and some owners do. That breadth — hypercar pace with everyday manners — is what sets it apart.
The power delivery above 4,000rpm is genuinely alarming. It does not build the way the Huracán does; it detonates, and the horizon arrives faster than your brain updates. This is where honesty matters: there is nowhere on a public road in Victoria to use even half of it legally, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise. You feel the capability in the first ten per cent, and the rest is for a track day.
The interior is austere next to the Ferrari — cool, technical, function-first, with less drama and more focus. Some people prefer exactly that; others miss the theatre of the Italian cabin. It is worth knowing which camp you are in before you book, because the 720S makes no attempt to charm you inside. It saves all of its charm for the way it drives and the way those doors open.
Where it makes most sense is a fast road where you can lean on the composure rather than the top end — the open Yarra Valley roads. Point to point it is devastating, not because you are using all of it, but because the bits you can use are so far beyond anything else on the page.
